1. What is your name, age, and position in the band?
Patrick Stump: I'm Patrick, I'm 21, and I sing and play guitar.
Pete Wentz: I'm Pete. I'm 26, and i pretty much never know what i'm doing ever with anything.
2. How has warped tour been so far?
Pete: Its been kind of a blur so far its been alot of sunburns...its been fun seeing alot of bands that i have played with for many years.
3. Have you shot the video for dance, dance yet? And do you have a concept for it yet?
Pete: Um we haven’t shot it yet I think were going to shoot it in august and we have a concept kinda brilliant. We decided to write our own truth in but its not really far enough along to where to say um I’d rather people keep guessing? Its weird and different then people expect it to be.
4. What does the album title “from under the cork tree” mean and does the cover have anything to do with the name?
Pete: It doesn’t. The title is just a book(that was read to me) from the story of Ferdinand. Its about a bull and he’s not really into going into bull riding, he’d rather sit under a tree and smell flowers and that tree happens to be a cork tree and I guess its just like…and to be honest I hate it when its like take it to mean it what you want it to mean but it means one thing to me and I feel its very isolated and very singular. Probably what it means to other people in the band is really different. I don’t know I guess just read the story and take away whatever meaning you take away from it. And the cover is a cover we all came up with together it’s we’ll always. The major misconception is we had an accident in Pennsylvania in the woods, we drove off the road and crashed the van. The major misconception is that what the cover suppose to be represented of. I feel dumb handing out what I think it means again but its like to me it means a feeling of isolationism and intense voyeurism kinda it’s kinda like your off doing your won thing blazin a trail but at the same time it’s like an audience is watching you kinda or it means absolutely nothing.
5. Is it weird to know your video was Number 1 on TRL?
Patrick: Uh. I think it’s hilarious because someone somewhere has to say Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey and Fall Out Boy. Um but I don’t think any of us expected it.
Pete: It’s bizarre. We don’t watch it. We don’t watch TRL like I mean it’s not like I don’t watch it Its not like I don’t watch TRL(angry sarcastic voice) but were like oh yea we might be on it. But we don’t watch it seem fucking really weird to us. So like not seeing ourselves at number 1 is even weirder because it’s harder for us to fathom it’s just like a really weird concept. It’s like oh yeah you were number 1 on TRL like Britney ya know it’s like I don’t know the concept is really hard to understand within your own brain.
6.How do you feel about the RIAA suing kids for downloading music?
Pete: I am personally pro to peer to peer downloading but I think the RIAA suing kids for downloading is simply putting a band aid on like broken… on top of that I think it has more to d with litigation that America that bogs down out on that you can sue anybody for anything kinda deal so its easy to stop anybody from doing anything you just kill um or sue um and if you kill them you get sued. It shows like litigation is like the end all be all of America its so easy to get wrapped up in I guess I don’t know I think it’s a concept that’s hard to unravel and um and we could talk everyday for a year and probably none of use would know what we’re talking about, about downloading or be any smarter. If you download music and you like it then hopefully you go out and buy it because you know the people are out on the road and they work hard to do it whatever. If you download music and you don’t buy it then like whatever. Um I don’t have that much of an opinion about it.
Patrick: I think its one of those things where like unfortunately there a couple of kinds that there trying to make and example of ya know there trying to water from stone. I feel really bad for those kids.
Pete: Yeah yeah totally. But obviously that’s not gonna solve the problem, I don’t think anyone is really trying to solve the problem anyone right now.
